As the temperatures begin drop, you may get the urge to also drop your lawn care practices. However, it is just as important to take care to your lawn during the fall and winter. The attention you give to your lawn now, can help it thrive in the springtime.
If you have a Bermuda or Zoysia lawn, you are probably used to it going dormant in the Fall and Winter. This is the period of time in which your grass loses its green color and becomes inactive. You may think that since your grass is no longer growing, it doesn’t require any upkeep. But that is far from the truth. During the fall, we are applying pre-emergent weed control products to your lawn. This will help prevent annual weeds in your yard. Even during the winter months, limestone is beneficial for your turf. Lime balances the pH level of your Bermuda grass or Zoysia grass to prepare it for “green-up” in the spring.
September and October are the prime months to aerate and seed your Fescue lawn. Fescue grass requires fertilizer in the winter, to establish the root system of the newly seeded turf. It is extremely important to take care of your freshly aerated and seeded lawn. Weed control must take a back seat during this time of year, due to the new seedlings not being strong enough to withstand weed control products. We will not apply anything to your lawn that is unnecessary.
King GREEN makes sure that each treatment is seasonally designed to take care of your landscape’s needs. Taking less than the full program can compromise the quality of your lawn.
