10 Ways to Enjoy Your Outdoor Space (While Sheltering in Place)

Just because we are sheltering in place, doesn’t mean you can’t spend time in your yard! Now is as good of a time as any to utilize your outdoor living areas. We have put together a list of things you and your family can do in your yard, if you are starting to go a little crazy inside your home.

  1. Family Picnic

A very simple, yet very easy and fun way to get out of your house for a little bit.

  1. Sidewalk chalk

Here’s a tip: If you want to make your chalk resemble cool stained glass, just start by adding tape to the ground in a fun geometric design. Color each taped section. When you’re done, remove the tape and you’ll have a unique and colorful sidewalk chalk design!

  1. Paint Twister

This one is messy, but we recommend it! Everyone has heard of the game, Twister. It’s pretty self-explanatory. If you have this game lying around, as well as some washable paint, you have a fun unique way to make time pass. Throw on some old clothes and add some washable paint to each circle on the Twister mat. Spin the wheel and try to keep still without slipping in the paint. Here’s a tip: If you don’t have any washable paint, try adding food color to shaving cream.

  1. Human Ring Toss

If you have some extra pool tubes lying around, try using them as a part of human ring toss!If you don’t have any tubes, try pool noodles. Connect the ends together with some tape, and you have your very own ring for ring toss!

  1. Glow in the dark frisbee

If you’re looking for a game to play at night, try glow in the dark frisbee! You can purchase one on Amazon for less than $15. It definitely makes this simple game a lot more fun!

  1. Outdoor movies

If you have a projector in your home, put it to use by bringing it outside! Set up a pillow fort with your family, throw a bed sheet up against your house and you have your very own outdoor movie theater! Don’t forget the popcorn.

  1. Bowling

Take some water bottles out of recycling to make your very own bowling pins. The smaller the bottles, the smaller your “bowling” ball should be. Something the size of a tennis ball would work just fine.

  1. Yoga

This can be a very stressful time for many! Sometimes yoga can help exercise both your mind and body. Our sales representative, Tris Moore, is always encouraging people around the office to try it out. Sheltering in place is a great opportunity to try new things.

  1. Scavenger Hunt

Take some items from inside your house and send your kids out on a scavenger hunt! Pinterest has some creative clues to give to your participants. This activity can help get your kids thinking outside the box.

  1. Obstacle courses

Another fun way to exercise is to create an obstacle course with your families. Once you have it all set up the way you want it, you can have everybody race. The fastest time wins! You can use items from all over your house and yard to make balance beams, tunnels, cones, hurdles, etc. Of course, all this time outside can be ruined by the presence of mosquitoes. Don’t let them intrude on your family time! We offer a superior mosquito control service that can help get rid of those pests. Give us a call or send us a message today to learn more about this program. We know this is an uncertain time for many. As scary as this whole situation is, it is also the perfect opportunity to reconnect with your family. King Green is a family owned and operated company, so we recognize the importance of that.
