It's Not too Late to Rejuvenate!

Your Fescue lawn will be changing as cool weather approaches. The following hints will help you maintain your Fescue lawn in top condition through the remainder of this year and assure you of a nice lawn next spring. In order to maintain a beautiful Fescue lawn, it should be rejuvenated with aeration and seeding each fall (Fescue doesn’t spread by runners and must be repopulated each fall). King GREEN offers this service, or if you choose, you can do it yourself. The proper steps in overseeding a Fescue lawn are:
1) Mow lawn as short as possible.
2) Water lawn thoroughly.
3) Rent a core-type aerator and make at least two passes over the lawn.
4) Spread Fescue seed at a rate of 3 to 6 lbs. per 1,000 sq. ft. (If you don’t know how much seed to use, call our office and we’ll be glad to help.)
5) Water EVERY DAY until seed germinates and is 2" to 3" tall.
6) Stay off lawn and keep traffic to a minimum (including mowers) for three to four weeks. This process will ensure that your Fescue lawn looks nice through next year. If you can’t aerate yourself, we’ll be glad to do it for you. With aeration and seeding, your Fescue lawn can look like new again in no time!
Lawns in Fall

While each lawn is different, a general guide to
how your lawn should look at this time of year
is as follows:
Fescue has finished its roughest period and
should begin to perk up with cooler weather
and longer nights. October is historically the
driest month of the year in Georgia. Watch
closely and be sure to keep your turf moist,
particularly if you have overseeded.
Bermuda and Zoysia are finishing the year
out at this time. They should be looking good.
Application of pre- and post-emergent
herbicide should keep your turf fairly weed-free
over the winter.
King Green does not recommend
overseeding with Ryegrass as our Round 6
application is for weed control and will not
allow rye grass to germinate.
Whatever your grass type, King Green has
a specific program to keep it looking its best.
